Client Case

– Easier for companies to comply with statutory requirements

The Norwegian National Association of Painters represents member companies operating in painting and flooring. Many of the companies have something in common, namely that they use Mellora’s system.

– We use Mellora in a slightly different way than normal customers,” says Competence and Development Manager Kari Wilsgård.

The National Association of Master Painters has developed the system quite a bit. It is also adapted to an industry that works on a project basis. In the construction industry, it is required by law to have electronic crew lists on construction sites, which show entrances and exits. Craftsmen can easily fill in this in the app.

– They also follow checklists and tick off completed work and document with photos when they have finished painting a room or laying a floor. In the system, companies can find templates, instructions, routines and checklists for the work they need. We audit the system, and ensure that the system is always updated in accordance with current regulations.

It has also been some special years in this industry, in relation to the pandemic. Among other things, laws and regulations have been changed – almost overnight.

Competence and Development Manager Kari Wilsgård.

– Then it is a security for our member companies that, among other things, routines and checklists for infection control on construction sites are updated at all times in accordance with current regulations. We have also further developed the module for risk assessment, and added elements that are particularly exposed to risk in our industry, such as working at height, use of chemicals and ergonomics. These areas must be risk assessed. The system provides better documentation of work carried out, which reduces conflicts at final settlement, she continues.

Wilsgård believes the system makes it easier for companies to comply with statutory requirements.

– We launched the system for members 5 years ago and are still continuously developing the system. The latest thing we have developed, which we are about to launch this week, is an import/export function of timesheets for payroll/accounting.

The Painters’ National Association is concerned that “everyone should participate”. The average age in the industry is relatively high and there are a good number of craftsmen who have not used digital tools before.

– MLF have tried to make things simple, to lower the threshold for using the tool, but there are few companies that use all the possibilities that the system has. The craftsmen also still use a combination of paper and app, she says.

Mellora AS’s tool is a tool that the association and its member companies are very happy with – but the association also provides good help to companies that want extra assistance.

– We have made several films with user guides that show what the various functions are like, and this winter we are running weekly short webinars that go through one module at a time.
